, Wednesday, May 30, 2018 May 30, 2018

Summary:
One Friday morning in Coldwater, Michigian a phone rings and the receiver of the phone call is shocked beyond belief. Eight people in Coldwater receive mircales or is it a hoax? Mr. Albom has given his readers a taste of what everyone who losses a loved one wishes for, that wish is to hear their loved one’s voice once more. Although we know that it is not possible to receive a phone call from heaven we choice to believe that it can happpen and we still wish for it knowing very well that this wish will never come true.

What I thought:
This story had me crying and angered at the same time. This book is an easy read and does make one wonder if heaven did have a phone which one of our loved ones would call. I think Mr. Albom out did his-self writing this book and it is a must read.

Sons of Blackbird Mountain - By: Joanne Bischof

, Saturday, May 19, 2018 May 19, 2018

Summary:
Jorgan, Thor and Haakon are the owners of Nogaard farm on Blackbird Mountain in Virgina. What these 3 men did not know was their great aunt Dorthe set in motion to find a wife suitable for either Thor or Haakon because Jorgan was already in the works of getting married. Before their great aunt could see her handy work in action she passed away. Some months later Aven appeared at the Nogaard farm with no knowledge Dorthe had passed. Did Dorthe succedd in the love matching game or did she tear these brothers apart?

What I thought:
I found this book to be a quick read and educational. At times this book had me crying, laughing, and angry. Ms. Bischof did a great job with educating those that didn’t understand or know that speaking in sign language was different than speaking with a voice. Not just because of the actual hand gestures but the meaning behind them and the way the form half sentences rather than full. I was taught sign language at a young age and explaining to other people why the sentences didn’t seem complete were tiring but it was worth learning the langauge. Will love hurt or strengthing this family? Is there going to be a new generation? Does this young lady that shows up at the farm scare easliy? This book is a must read and I am hoping that Ms. Bischof writes another book around the Nogaard.

This book was given to me for an honest review about the book. NetGalley

Helen Keller’s Teacher - By: Margaret Davidson

, Monday, May 7, 2018 May 07, 2018

Summary:
Helen Keller was not born deaf, blind and mute and neither was Annie Sullivan. Ms. Sullivan had a very hard childhood full of struggles one right after another. She was poor, half blind and loss her entire family. Ms. Sullivan was a wild child so to speak until she was taken under the wing of Mrs. Hopkins who showed Annie unconditional love. With a new look on life Ms. Sullivan began a new life one with a calmness and determination. Within this new life Ms. Sullivan gave another person a new life and this person is none other than Helen Keller.

What I thought:
This book is amazing and I think it should be a must read for elementry students. It never really dawned on me that a person with disablities could teach another person with the same disablities. Today’s generation can learn a lot from Ms. Sullivan and Ms. Keller the main lesson they would learn is that no matter what struggles you are having in life there is no excuse to act a fool or use those struggles as an excuse as to why they act out.

Ending:
Ms. Sullivan was given a gift of unconditional love and an education. She took these two precious gifts and gave them to a little girl named Helen Keller. Who turned out to be an American author, political activist and a lecturer. Ms Keller was the first deaf and blind person to achieve a great accomplishment as earning her bachelor of arts degree.
