The Snitch, The Witch and The one who was Rich - By: Joe Spraga

, March 29, 2018

Summary:

As individuals come to a standstill while waiting for father time the reader can see that each individual walks a different path and has a different reason for being there. This nursery rhyme has a very special lesson not only for children but also for the adults in their lives.

What I thought of the book:

My grandson is 2 and he loved this book. The illustrations grabbed his attention and had him asking “What’s this?” Yes this book is meant for an older child but I am a firm believer if there is a lesson to be learned it is best to start teaching that lesson as an early age plus my grandson loves to be read to no matter what you are reading. I felt that the message in this book is a very valuable lesson that we all tend to forget.

I recommend that everyone no matter what age they are should read this book not only to their child but for themselves. This book was given to me for an honest review about the book. NetGalley

Summary:

Nick Exley finds himself in a nightmare he just can’t seem to wake up from. On his daughter’s fourth birthday his nightmare begins. Nick thinks he has found a friend in Vernon Saul that he can speak freely with about his guilt and grief. Boy was he wrong and within few days Nick finds himself being dragged deeper into the nightmare. His so called friend has motives that will not help Nick but harm him and drag him into a world of death, loss of sanity and maybe loss of his life.

What I thought of the book:

This book starts off slow and very confusing. However after a few chapters the book grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. Every once in a while you might get confused but within a few minutes your confusing turns into “Oh My, What, You have to be kidding, and will Nick finally see Vernon for who he really is?” This book will have you clutching your seat, screaming at the pages and grabbing a tissue to wipe away your tears. This book is by far one of the best psychological mysteries I have read this year.

Ending:

Has Nick found answers to his questions, has he made a pact with the devil, and can he truly be happy once again? Please borrow the book, purchase the book or get it on your kindle if you have kindle unlimited. Read it!

The Origin of Others - By: Toni Morrison

, Saturday, March 3, 2018 March 03, 2018

Before I get into this review please understand that everyone interprets things differently. Something that I see has disgusting you may find that you are ok with it.

Summary:

Ms. Morrison hits us hard with this book of racism and how we as a whole have made people feel less than, dehumanized, and looking from the outside in. She talks about how African Americans were taught that they are not human, they were not created to be equals and they were born to serve. A Caucasian who sold, purchased, kidnapped and abused African Americans did so to show they were not weak. Ms. Morrison breaks down a couple of books that she has written and books that other authors have written to show how color was a big part of how we viewed writings. She uses words that I cringe at, that I refuse to acknowledge as part of anyone’s vocabulary and one that if used around me I speak my mind on how that person is just an uneducated person. No I am not saying Ms. Morrison is an uneducated person I am just saying that the word n****r is not a word that should have been used in the past and should not be used especially in today’s society.

What I thought of the book:

This book is very emotional journey not only for the writer but also the reader. I for one didn’t know that Caucasian’s thought by purchasing, selling or beating another human being they were not weak. Before reading this book I had questions about slavery and this book answered some of those questions. I did skip over a few sentences in the book because a word I refuse to acknowledge was used. What I took from this book is that our ancestors were ignorant people who thought it was their right to own, sell, and beat another human being.

Ending:

To think that African Americans were taught to think of themselves as others is just sickening. We were all created by a higher being whether you like it or not. We are all human beings, we are all brothers and sisters, we are deserve to be treated equal, we all deserve to be given respect, we deserve to have unconditional love, and we all bleed the same color blood. I don’t look at a person’s skin color to give them the respect they deserve, to get to know that person and to show them unconditional love and support. So please go get this book and read it. See how it changes how you look at one another, how you understand them and how you treat them because of the color of their skin.

Happy Reading!
